Antique Mission Oak Bookcase Cabinet with Leaded Glass Doors and Sides
Lovely antique mission oak bookcase with leaded glass doors. The overall effect of the piece is charming despite some condition issues with the glass. There are a total of ten narrow pieces of glass that are cracked--nine of these are on the sides (see photos 3, 4 and 5) and one is on the right hand door see photo 6. Despite this damage, the glass holds firmly in the leaded framework and is not particularly noticeable as the horizontal cracks seem to line up for the most part with the shelves inside. Three interior shelves total including the bottom of the cabinet and two fixed shelves above. The top shelf has a height of 9" and the lower are 11.5" each.
Hardware (knobs, hinges and ball-catch closures for each door) all intact and functioning properly. All wood is in very good condition with no dings, cracks or stains. Shelves and back are solid wood, possibly pine, and appear to be original. The front visible edge of each shelf is trimmed with a 3/4 strip of oak that matches the rest of the cabinet.
This piece is from my grandparents' collection and I suspect was refinished in the 1970s.
